Hills Speech and Learning Centre is a registered NDIS provider. This scheme supports children with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday life activities. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) works with families to identify child’s needs in order to achieve goals in many aspects of their life such
as independence, participation in the community, education, health and well-being. It gives parents choice and control over the support they wish to receive. Our clients can have consultations in the location that best suits them such as their home, childcare centre, preschool or school. We engage carers, family, support workers, teachers and any one else significant in our client’s life. We strive to provide high-quality individualised, client centred, evidence-based, inclusive services to maximise our client’s opportunities to participate be included in the broader community.

Medicare
Disease Management
Medicare provides a rebate for up to 5 speech pathology sessions per the calendar year for individuals with chronic conditions and complex needs that require ongoing care and when a multi-disciplinary approach (treatment from 2 or more health professionals involved) is required. Examples of eligible conditions are speech or language impairments, autism, dyspraxia, learning disorders, Down syndrome, chronic middle ear infections, intellectual disability, ADHD and cleft palate.
You will need to make an appointment with your GP to determine your eligibility and complete a GP management plan.
Access to Mental Health
For children with mental health or behavioural difficulties. This plan can be used for:
- Communication Training
- Social Skills Training
- Attention Regulation
Private Health Funds
We are registered Medicare providers and are therefore registered with all private health funds. Speech therapy services can be claimed back through private health insurance. The amount covered will depend on your health fund and level of coverage. Before commencing therapy, please check with your health fund to ensure that speech pathology is included in your cover and the amount you are eligible to claim for each individual assessment and therapy session.
