Sonia Gugnani
BA Psychology Hons, Masters in Speech Language Therapy Practice
Sonia is a certified practising member of Speech Pathology Australia and she is committed to Evidence Based Practice. Her passion for the field of speech pathology has been reaffirmed over more than a decade of experience. She is an accredited Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) service provider and specialises in behaviour difficulties.
She provides feeding, communication, speech and language therapy services to toddlers, preschool and school-aged children.
She has skills and experience in:
- Assessment and intervention of a range of client populations.
- Assessment and implementation of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) Systems
- Communication and feeding intervention
- Providing intervention for early speech and language development for children with developmental delays and delayed communication skills.
- School readiness training
- Preschool and school aged language, articulation and fluency.
- Quality services to clients with a range of disabilities (such as various syndromes, special needs and disabilities, hearing impairment learning difficulties, complex communication and behavior issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech sounds disorders, Intellectual Disability, Down’s Syndrome apraxia of speech, oral motor dysfunction, expressive/receptive language difficulties, articulation, voice, fluency, cognitive skills and pragmatic language (social skills) etc.
- Language and literacy for school-aged within both mainstream and Special Education Programs in school settings providing consultative capacity building services
- Primary school and high school language specialised literacy services and academic development.
- Language (e.g. grammar, vocabulary, concept development)
- Phonological awareness (the building blocks of early literacy)
- Positive parenting strategies (assisting parents to manage their child’s challenging behaviours)
- Providing workshops and training about speech, language development, getting children ready to learn for a variety of audiences, including medical staff and students, childcare workers, school staff and parents
- Liaising and engaging with teachers, educators and other health professionals by promoting and advocating inclusion within the wider community
- She is multilingual—English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu
